We sell 3 products for caterpillar control:
BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS, variety kurstaki, sold as DIPEL DF, is a bacterium occurring naturally worldwide which contains a toxin lethal to Lepidopteran (butterfly and moth) larvae. It does not attack sawfly caterpillars, e.g. on gooseberries and Solomon's Seal. It is applied as a high-volume spray to leave a deposit on the leaves where the larvae are feeding, and acts as a stomach poison rather than on contact. Use under glass or outdoors whenever caterpillars are seen. Approved for use on brassicas, salads, herbs, top fruit, strawberries, raspberries and ornamentals. 500gram packs price £39 + VAT. We regret that the sachets are no longer registered for sale in the U.K. NEMASYS CODLING MOTH AND CATERPILLAR KILLER Nemasys codling moth and caterpillar killer contains the parasitic nematodes Steinernema carpocapsae . Codling moth treatment should be carried out in autumn while day temperatures exceed 14 C. Other caterpillars should be treated as soon as you see them. Each set contains 3 trays, each with 20 million nematodes. Each tray treats up to 20 apple trees for codling moth, or 40 square metres of plants for other species of caterpillars. These nematodes are specific to caterpillars and will not harm your plants, pets or wildlife. Each set £25.45 inc. VAT . NEMASYS GROW YOUR OWN Nemasys Grow Your Own contains a mix of nematode species which will control caterpillars of butterflies and moths, sawfly caterpillars, and overwintering codling moth caterpillars. It is sprayed directly onto the caterpillars and kills on contact. It also controls several species of soil pests - see separate page - thrips and ants. One pack treats up to 60sq.m. of infested foliage depending on height and density, or up to 16 apple trees. Repeat applications weekly or fortnightly while pests are active. The packs have a shelf life of 6 weeks so to keep postage costs down you can order several packs at once and store in the fridge until needed. Price £4.95/pack incl. VAT. . |
