SLUGS

The native
parasitic nematode species PHASMARHABDITA HERMAPHRODITA, more
conveniently
known as the commercial product NEMASLUG, attacks all common species
of small to medium-sized slugs in the soil, outdoors and under glass.
The nematodes
invade the slug at a juvenile stage and complete their development
under
the "saddle" on its back, killing it meanwhile with bacteria. The
slugs
die underground and nematodes spread out from the victims to infect
other slugs.
Minimum soil temperature 5C (41F) One treatment will give protection for about 6 weeks so apply the nematodes shortly before sowing, planting out vulnerable seedlings, or the emergence of herbaceous perennials susceptible to slugs. Can affect small snails also, do not use within 15cm (6 ") of ponds. Not so effective in waterlogged heavy clay soils which impede the movement of the nematodes. Small pack (treats 40 square metres) £10.95 incl.VAT Large pack (treats 100 square metres) £21.95 + VAT, |
