native rove beetle (like a devil's coach horse but only 3mm long). Both
adults and the centipede-like larvae prey on a variety of soil pests
including sciarid and shore fly larvae, thrip pupae, carrot fly larvae
and similar pests, indoors and outside.

NEMASYS GROW
YOUR OWN contains a mixture of nematode species to control a variety of
soil pests in the vegetable garden, including carrot fly, cabbage root
fly, onion fly, leatherjackets, sciarid flies and cutworms. The
nematodes are watered into moist soil along the rows of vegetables and
watered in. One pack treats up to 60sq.m. of soil. Apply fortnightly
during the spring and summer while pests are active. The packs have a
shelf life of 6 weeks so you can order a course of treatment in one go
and store them in the fridge.

HYPOASPIS
MILES is a native British mite preying on a variety of soil-dwelling
pests, particularly "fungus gnat" (sciarid fly) larvae.
Can be
used all the year round under glass, outdoors best in spring and summer.
Supplied as colonies of all stages in 500ml tubs of peat to
sprinkle on
the soil or compost surface.

it is warm enough, for leatherjacket control apply in late August and
September.
