SPIDER MITES (Tetranychus urticae) |
Phytoseiulus |
The predatory mite PHYTOSEIULUS PERSIMILIS from South America can be used to control
red (two-spotted) spider mite under glass throughout the year, and outdoors
in sheltered situations during the summer. Minimum temperature 10C (50F).Optimum 15-28C, with moderate to high humidity. We supply the predators on leaf as complete colonies of adults, juveniles and eggs.( Phytoseiulus eggs are pink in contrast to the yellow eggs of the spider mite). They are simply distributed by laying the leaves, right way up to shade eggs and young predators on the undersides, directly onto infested foliage. In 3-4 weeks you should see new growth remaining green and clear of infestation. One application should be sufficient unless spider mites re-invade from outside. Amateur pack of 500 Phytoseiulus £8.50 incl.VAT Professional packs £9.50/1000 + VAT.(Minimum order 1,000) The predatory midge FELTIELLA ACARISUGA is a good alternative control where large areas need to be treated, as the adult midges fly to find even small colonies of spider mite. The larvae are the predatory stage and look like small pale brown maggots, and pupate in "cotton wool" cocoons under the leaf. Feltiella are supplied as cocoons ready to hatch. Packs of 250 Feltiella to treat up to a quarter-acre £37 + VAT |
